Titan Train 8/30/19

  • Dr. Holder has an awesome website for his music program!  Click here to learn about music at TCS!
  • The NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts. Area schools including Dickinson State University, Dickinson High School and Trinity High School will be a part of the community-wide event. The Dickinson Public Library and Dickinson State University will coordinate efforts to host the activities associated with The Big Read. The novel selected for The Big Read is The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. Author Tim O’Brien will make several appearances in Dickinson including an author visit at Dickinson High School. Trinity students have been invited to attend the presentation in October. Trinity’s English Department met to discuss the use of this text for the juniors and seniors. The Things They Carried is a collection of short stories describing the experiences of a platoon of American soldiers fighting in the Vietnam war. It is realistic and has been noted for its honest portrayal of a soldier’s emotions. In an interview with O’Brien on NPR, the book is described as “a staple of college and high school English classes, celebrated as one of the most important works about the experiences of war.” In reading reviews of the book, it is clear O’Brien explores complex emotions, emotions that surface not only in war but also in the day- to- day lives of all. The novel invites discussion about the way in which we cope in difficult circumstances and how we handle such emotions as fear and grief. Because of the harsh realities of war, the novel includes some disturbing imagery and profanity. In the event a parent asks that their child not participate in The Big Read, another war-related novel from our library will be provided.  Click here for the OPT OUT form.

  • Parents - if you do not have (or do not remember) your PowerSchool log in, please contact Pam in the main office at 701.483.6081.  We also highly recommend that you download the PowerSchool app - it is quite handy! (PowerSchool is most helpful for grades 1-12.)
  • We are in desperate need of bus drivers!  If you or someone you know has a CDL and wants to help transport our Titan athletes, please let us know ASAP.
  • Good luck to our 5th & 6th Grade Girls Basketball teams, as well as our Junior High Volleyball teams as they have their first events this week!
  • Parents, as you drop off your children in the morning, please understand that our doors do not open until 7:45.  Teachers officially begin their day at 7:55, but often come in early for preparation.  Please be respectful of our teachers, and drop off at 7:45 a.m. or later.  Also - please do not park in no-parking zones, especially blocking the parish rectories and residences.  Thank you!
  • During the school year, if your child(ren) should need medication, you must fill out a medication authorization form.  Forms are available at all main offices.
  • Please pray for our clergy as they attend the Fall Clergy Conference next week, September 2-5.  As a reminder, there will be no Holy Masses this week due to the conference.
  • We pray in thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest of sweet corn on the Greg Bezdicek farm!  We are grateful for our able-bodied Titan Family who picked and sold the corn, nourishing so many people and raising funds to support Titan Athletics.  Our God is so good!
